The news is coming in at a trickle, but the point is clear. North Korea has sent an arms carrier to sea, and the U.S. is headed to intercept with the USS John McCain. It looks serious, and could be the first shot fired in a bigger conflict. I believe that N.K. intends to do everything they can to justify the use of thier military assets against the world. The Japanese Defence Ministry has also stated that they have reason to believe that Hawaii could be a target for the North Koreans, there are obvious reasons for scrutinizing that statement. None the less it makes good fuel for fear mongers.
I guess the bigger question is one that I have already written about, (see my article "Can North Korea win with warheads?") That question being are they really going to try to wage a war? All indications seem to point to an absolute yes. Unlike Irag and Afghanistan, thankfully these guys wear uniforms, and represent an actual country, and not a religion. Should we find ourselves embroiled in a conflict with North Korea, I imagine the public will digest matters a bit better. For eight years our government manufactured many of the daily fears for the public. This is a result of rickety foreign policy to be sure, but the threat is very, very real. (Note to self: Don't share nuclear technology with any of my friends, even if they promise not to weaponize it).
In closing, I have seen some stories around the internet saying that U.F.O.s have shown up and ruined nuclear weapon operations in the past. If any of you readers out there know any space aliens, you might want to tell them to quit watching star wars for a second, and flip on the news. They may get to play catch with one soon if the North gets thier tech working correctly. I think they'll try it if they see an opportunity.
Thanks for reading, good luck.
